Open birth interval as an index of fertility

Abstract

PIP: In this study of 450 married women in the rural part of Agra district, India, the effect of various factors on the open birth interval is explored. Factors considered include age, parity, lactation, and amenorrhea. The results indicate that fertility is strongly and significantly correlated with the period of lactation in comparison with the other factors considered.
