Objective. To introduce a simple and low cost respiratory rate detection method. Method. A high-sensitivity capacitance transducer and corresponding detecting system were used in the system. Result. Satisfactory signals were obtained at the upper portion of the right thorax with the method. Conclusion. It could be used widely. It can be used to comprise the respiratory module in multi-parameter patient monitoring, or be used alone to detect respiratory rate.
