[Article in German]

Abstract

Non-invasive intermittent "self-ventilation" employing a nose mask is considered to be an efficient means of treating chronic respiratory failure. After several hours of treatment with a respirator, 10 patients (four with kyphoscoliosis, three with COLD, two with neuromuscular disorders, and one with sequela of Tbc) experienced reversal of the chronic respiratory failure and an improvement in respiratory muscle force.
