The current review addresses present-day technological advances in cardiac surgery performed on octogenarian patients, namely off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), proximal anastomosis device, routine use of intraoperative epiaortic ultrasound, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), and brain protection during cardiac surgery.
