Technical aspects of the macrophage electrophoretic mobility (MEM) test for malignant disease

Br J Cancer Suppl. 1973 Aug:1:229-36.

Abstract

Confirmatory evidence is presented for a new in vitro blood test for cancer. The test depends on sensitization of a patient's lymphocytes to a basic protein apparently present in many human tumours and brain tissue. An improved test protocol which gives greater slowing of guinea-pig macrophages is described and the results discussed. Evidence is also presented concerning the nature of the processes involved.
