Abstract

Tumors of the central nervous system (CNS) in children mostly need irradiation therapy often in combination with surgery and intensive drug therapy. The tumor dose is age-dependent and maximally 6000 R. Metastasing tumors require irradiation of the whole skull and the spinal axis. The individual prognosis depends on the type of tumor involved. Altogether up to 50% of CNS-tumors can be eliminated.
