The value and limitations of cardiac enzymes in the recognition of acute myocardial infarction

Heart Dis Stroke. 1993 Jan-Feb;2(1):26-32.

Abstract

Assay of plasma enzymes, particularly creatine kinase isoenzymes and isoforms, provides sensitive and specific criteria for the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction. Recent advances offer particular promise of very early detection of infarction, noninvasive and prompt recognition of coronary recanalization, and detection of early recurrent infarction.
